Youth Education and Student Aid

Our Indian subsidiary IOT set up a comprehensive youth training program in 2010. In recent years, various charitable projects in the field of education have been launched at state elementary schools in the communities near the tank terminals and construction projects of the EPC business unit. In 2011, the terminal in Navghar, Baroda, helped to improve the educational situation of socially underprivileged students from nearby villages. For example, a medical camp was organized for 250 students at the elementary school in Dhutum, India, at which a medical practitioner offered treatment free of charge. Later in the year free school bags, writing materials and raincoats were distributed. The student with the best result in a state examination held to recruit staff for the government received a scholarship, with the aim of inspiring other students to do better. In 2013, IOT extended this commitment to three more schools and awarded twelve scholarships in the form of lump sum grants, supplied 220 school bags, and renovated a school building. IOT also sponsored the education of of ten female students in various fields of study via the India Student Educational Aid Foundation (ISEAF). In 2016, the IOT teams at the terminal in Raipur and the IOT head office in Mumbai provided underprivileged schoolchildren in nearby villages with educational materials such as books, pens, and schoolbags.
