Marquard & Bahls Supports the SOS Children's Village in Chiclayo, Peru
Support for SOS Children’s Villages
In keeping with a cherished tradition, in 2017, instead of giving holiday season presents, Marquard & Bahls supported an international aid project: 100,000 euros were given to the SOS Children’s Village in Chiclayo, not far from the Oiltanking Terminal Eten at the north coast of the Peruvian pacific coast. Since 1983, the SOS Children’s Village has taken care of children that cannot grow up with their parents. Currently, it provides a home for about 70 children, and cares for other young people and disadvantaged families. Special youth accommodations give young adults a home while they are doing their apprenticeship, for instance. They are supported by qualified teachers who help them, step by step, to live an independent life. Family support programs provide, among other services, handicraft workshops for women and childcare for single or working parents. These programs receive consultation and support from the SOS Children’s Village. The company’s donation will be used to cover running costs in the year ahead, ensuring that the children will continue to have a home in 2018.
