World Environment Day Tree Plantings
World Environment Day is an annual event introduced by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to raise environmental awareness worldwide. In June 2012, the Oiltanking tank terminal in Vitória, Brazil, organized a tree planting and painting activities for children at its terminal on World Environment Day. In China, Oiltanking Daya Bay, employees and their families once again celebrated National Tree Planting Day, when millions of Chinese from all walks of life turn out to plant trees in their hometowns. During the tree planting campaign organized in collaboration with a local NGO (non-governmental organization), 1,200 seedlings were planted in the rocky mountain soil near Daya Bay.
Our IOT sites also celebrate World Environment Day with tree plantings. For example, all IOT terminals and EPC projects celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2011 under the heading: "Forests: Nature at your service." Various events were organized, including planting seedlings to develop green areas on the terminal grounds, in which numerous IOT employees, contractors and security staff participated.
