Hamburg is the largest German port of call for oceangoing vessels. The Oiltanking terminal increasingly gains importance for trading business and furthermore serves as a distribution hub for the entire country as well for inland shipping as for rail and truck transport. Tank trucks deliver product north of Hamburg up to the Danish border and south as far as the region around Hannover / Hildesheim / Kassel (highway entrances to A1 and A7 a mere five minutes away). Barges serve the Elbe from the mouth all the way upriver and into the Elbe Lateral Canal.
The European railcar network is directly connected to the terminal and therefore is a very flexible instrument for transports leaving Hamburg and arriving at the terminal from the hinterland.
Furthermore, for seaborne transports, Hamburg serves as a transit terminal for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
