Due to its proximity to the industrial areas and due to the high population density of the Ruhr area, Duisburg is a particularly interesting market. Logistically, Duisburg holds a significant location on the Rhine where, depending on the water level, barges up to 3,300 tons can be lightered in order to enter the southern inland ports (e.g. Bendorf / Karlsruhe on the Rhine or Hanau on the river Main). The ports of Duisburg are fed with bunker fuel from this location.
