First independent bulk storage terminal for petroleum products and gases in Indonesia.
The Merak terminal will serve the recently deregulated oil and gas market in Indonesia with logistical infrastructure and offers superior shipping economics. Located at Merak, Banten, Indonesia, the terminal is situated in uncongested waters and has open access to the straits. The Greater Jakarta markets are easily accessible via the close-by highway.
The terminal will be equipped to most efficiently handle the full range of petroleum products. It will serve as a distribution terminal to the Greater Jakarta markets as well as provide break bulk services for Indonesia at large.
Deep water access will be used for receipt of product from vessels and delivery of product to vessels, barges and tank trucks. At the terminal the full scope of services will be provided such as tank-to-tank transfers, blending operations and supply of additives.
Operating 24 hours per day with a shift system, all operators are skilled according to the international Oiltanking standards and the corporate Oiltanking HSSE rules will apply of course.
The first phase of the terminal is envisaged to be operational by end 2008 with an initial capacity of 282,500 cbm.
