Oiltanking builds off-site storage for Nexol (biodiesel) in Singapore

24.05.2007 - Singapore:
Oiltanking Singapore Limited officially signed a long term off-site storage agreement with Nexsol (Singapore) Pte Ltd related to the (100,000 t/a) Nexsol biodiesel plant being constructed adjacent to the Oiltanking Singapore terminal located on Seraya (Jurong Island-Singapore).

Both the biodiesel plant and off-site storage will be ready for commissioning in September 2007.

In order to serve the needs of Nexsol, Oiltanking is constructing eight new tanks with a total capacity of 29,400 cbm. The storage facilities will offer premium safety and security management in all aspects of the handling and storage of the full range of biodiesel related products such as Palmoil, Methanol and Glycerine.

From Singapore, Nexsol aims to access sales regions in Asia, Europe and the US. The excellent infrastructure and potential for downstream integration, makes Singapore an ideal location for biodiesel production. Nexsol, a Malaysian-German partnership involving Kulim Bhd and CremerOleo GmbH, has an additional biodiesel facility located in Tanjung Langsat, Malaysia.

Biodiesel is typically produced by the reaction of a vegetable oil, like palmoil, with an alcohol such as methanol.
