Three Oiltanking terminals certified for three quality standards

Oiltanking GmbH proudly announces that its Ghent, Antwerp and Terneuzen terminals have simultaneously obtained the three main quality certificates, being ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
The implementation of an Integrated Quality Management System for the three terminals was started in 2004 and was rounded off in less than two years time.
The implemented Integrated Quality Management System complies with all requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems; ISO 14001 standardizes environmental management systems and OHSAS 18001 applies to occupational health and safety management systems.
The Integrated Quality Management System is built around the operational processes which are set up and kept up-to-date by the different departments with the purpose of realizing continuous improvement. This continuous improvement and control of processes is based upon the Deming principle (plan-do-check-act).
At present, the system contains about 1,200 documents, forms and procedures and is fully operational throughout the whole organization. A steering committee consisting of seven managers representing the three terminals ensures the evaluation, follow-up and update of the system. The certification has been guided and executed by KIWA. All certificates obtained are valid for three years.
The certificate is a great step forward and only the beginning of the continuous efforts to improve the quality of Oiltanking’s service to their customers. Oiltanking will continuously look for ways to improve its performance and hence customer satisfaction.
