Indonesia’s first independent oil terminal ready November 1, 2008

31.10.2007 - Jakarta:
The Oiltanking Group announces that its storage terminal for petroleum products and gases at Merak, West Java, will be operational one year from today. Both main contractors, PT Rotary Engineering Indonesia and PT McConnell Dowell Indonesia, have started the construction of the facility’s tanks, pipelines, jetties and truck loading bays.

The actual start of the construction of Indonesia’s first independent oil terminal is a significant milestone. With the tank and jetty foundation works on the way, Oiltanking is confident that with the much appreciated support of all institutions and people involved, the terminal will be ready to receive its first cargo in November 2008.

PT Oiltanking Merak facility will be serving the fast-growing deregulated oil and gas market in Indonesia with much needed logistical infrastructure. The first phase of 282,500 cbm will be equipped to efficiently handle the full range of petroleum products and LPG.

The terminal will offer the Greater Jakarta market cost effective supply solutions with congestion-free access to the region’s growing highway infrastructure. With various berths up to 110,000 DWT, the terminal will offer further superior shipping economics for breakbulk and distribution into Indonesia at large. Located at the Straits of Sundra, the oil terminal will also provide an interesting alternative to the oil trading terminals in Singapore.

Oiltanking is a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls AG, Germany, a leading privately-owned petroleum company. Oiltanking is the second largest independent tank storage provider for petroleum products, chemicals and gases world-wide. The company owns and operates 74 terminals in 21 countries within Europe, North and South America, Middle East, India as well as Asia. Oiltanking has an overall capacity of 12 million cubic meters.
