Oiltanking-Dupré awarded contract for Hovensa project in St. Croix

The recently established joint venture Oiltanking-Dupre' LLC has been awarded a long term contract for the operations and maintenance of HOVENSA L.L.C.’s (HOVENSA) petroleum coke handling system and marine loading dock on the Caribbean island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

HOVENSA, a joint venture between subsidiaries of Hess Corporation and Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), operates a world-class refinery on St. Croix. As of Aug. 1, 2010 when the contract came into effect, Oiltanking-Dupré is responsible for the coordination of the transport of petroleum coke from the coke pit to the marine dock. HOVENSA produces approximately 1.2 million tons of petroleum coke annually.

The HOVENSA refinery is one of the 10 largest in the world and one of the most modern in the United States with a crude oil processing capacity of 500,000 barrels per day. HOVENSA operates its facilities on 2,000 acres of land on the south shore of St. Croix and employs approximately 2,500 direct and contract employees.

Oiltanking-Dupré is a joint venture based out of Houston, Texas, dedicated to serving customers in need of material handling for petroleum coke and other refinery service operations. Combining the assets of Oiltanking’s US network with Dupré Logistics’ experience in dry bulk handling, Oiltanking-Dupré has the capacity to meet dry bulk needs nationwide.
