Oiltanking acquires storage terminal in Nanjing, China

07.11.2007 - Hamburg:

The Oiltanking Group announces that it has acquired a 60% shareholding in the Xiba storage terminal located in the Nanjing Chemical Industry Park (NCIP), Nanjing, People’s Republic of China. The company is a joint venture between Oiltanking, NCIP Administration and the Port Authority of Nanjing.

The terminal will be renamed Oiltanking Nanjing and will be managed and operated by Oiltanking.

The first phase of the terminal is currently under construction and will be commissioned in May 2008. It consists of 74,000 cubic meters of tank capacity for the storage and handling of liquid chemicals, petroleum products and gases. The facility has ample land for future tank capacity expansion.

The terminal is uniquely located along the Yangtze River in the heart of the East China’s chemical market and is situated within the Nanjing Chemical Industry Park. It will render independent storage and handling services to the existing and future chemical manufacturing industry via the present pipe rack connection.

Additionally Oiltanking Nanjing will own and operate a jetty with various berths up to 50,000 DWT.

Nanjing is the last port of call for sea-going vessels on the Yangtze River and therefore a transhipment hub for onward barge transportation upstream the river. The terminal is connected to Nanjing’s excellent road system as well as to the railways providing access to the vast hinterland of Northeast China.

Oiltanking is a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls AG, Germany, a leading privately owned petroleum company. Oiltanking is the second-largest independent tank storage provider for petroleum products, chemicals and gases world-wide. The company owns and operates 74 terminals in 21 countries within Europe, North and South America, Middle East, India as well as Asia. Oiltanking has an overall capacity of 12 million cubic meters.
