First seagoing vessel arrives at Oiltanking Merak terminal

PT Oiltanking Merak successfully received and discharged the first vessel calling at its newly-built terminal located in Merak, Banten province, Indonesia.
With the successful discharge of the MT “Torm Mathilda”, the first ship to call its jetty, Oiltanking has officially started the operation of the terminal.
Oiltanking Merak’s jetty infrastructure is approved to receive foreign flag ships and with the help of all related authorities, the first vessel arriving at the terminal on September 1 was handled smoothly without any delay.
Oiltanking Merak is located at the Straits of Sundra, in Merak-Cilegon industrial area, West Java. The terminal offers Greater Jakarta cost effective supply solutions with congestion-free access to the region’s growing highway infrastructure. With 21 tanks with a total capacity of 282,500 cbm and two berths up to 110,000 DWT, the terminal offers further superior shipping economics for breakbulk and distribution into Indonesia at large.
The oil terminal also provides a good alternative to the oil trading terminals in Singapore, to serve as a regional hub accommodating the international oil trade. For this purpose it obtained bonded warehouse status.
